Welcome from our Captains

CLUB CAPTAIN 2025/26
GLYN THORPE

Dear Guests & Members,

It is a great honour and privilege to serve as Captain of Sleaford Golf Club for the year 2025/26. I am both proud and humbled to take on this role at a Club with such a rich history, vibrant membership, and a strong sense of community.

First and foremost, I would like to thank the outgoing Captain, Paul for his dedication and outstanding leadership, his hard work has left the Club in excellent shape and I am excited to build on that foundation.

This year, my aim is to foster inclusivity, sportsmanship and enjoyment for all, whether you are a long standing member or new to the Club. We have a full calendar of competitions, social events and team matches planned and I encourage everyone to get involved on and off the course.

I am particularly passionate about supporting our Junior section, as well as growing our outreach into the local community.

Golf is more than just a game, it brings people together and I hope this season brings many opportunities for connection, friendship and shared success.

I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible during the year and sharing a memorable season together.

With warmest regards.

Glyn

LADIES’ CAPTAIN 2025/26
FIONA PICKERING

Welcome to the Ladies Section.

Thank you Gwen for giving me the opportunity to take on the role of Ladies Captain and thank you for all your care and enthusiasm over the past year.

It is a great privilege to be Lady Captain for Sleaford Golf Club and I am looking forward to the year ahead.

My charity this year is The Woodland Trust.

I believe we have one of the friendliest Ladies Sections comprised of both playing and social members. One of my aims this year is to increase the membership of the Ladies Section and make any new members feel welcome and enjoy their golf. We cater for all levels of golf from the New to Golf to those who have been playing for many years.

Our Competitions are played on Tuesday’s and Sunday’s, a mix of both qualifying, and non-qualifying events, Medal and Stableford. We also play into the winter.

We enter teams in League matches and play numerous Mixed handicap friendly matches against other local clubs which are always fun. We also take part in many mixed Club friendly matches throughout the year, both home and away. All in all it is a very busy and full calendar.

To conclude, golf should be fun and enjoyable.

I hope we all have a healthy, happy and successful golfing year.

With very best wishes.

Fiona
